International Travel through the Round Square Program

Fern Hill is proud to be a Global member of Round Square. Through this innovative international programme, students in Grade 7 and 8 are exposed to unique and rewarding opportunities throughout the world. Students may apply to join one of several Round Square opportunities offered each year and are accompanied by Fern Hill staff with international experience to allow students to approach these trips away from family with confidence and excitement.

Round Square schools share a passion for experiential learning. Together, we work hard to ensure that our pupils have every opportunity to achieve in ways and to levels beyond their perceived limits. Round Square schools and projects are located all around the world. Recent tasks have included building schools, classrooms and community centres, constructing paths and bridges and installing clean water systems. Round Square service projects deliver dual benefits. They meet very real and urgent needs in communities in some of the poorest parts of the world whilst also enabling Round Square students to develop a sense of responsibility and leadership skills through learning how to be of service to others. The work they do is simple, of real local value and physically demanding.

The tenants of Round Square are: Internationalism, Democracy, Environmental awareness, Adventure, Leadership and Service to others. These ideas are mirrored in all aspects of the Fern Hill programme.
